Oregon’s Dan Shamrell Places First at NTDC in 3 Axle Category
Fairytale ending to his 35 years of competition
FedEx Freight’s Dan Shamrell again represented Oregon very well at the National Truck Driving & Step Van Championships (NTDC) this August, taking home first place in the 3-axle category, a fairytale ending to his 35 years of competing in Truck Driving Championships. Dan’s final run was a 260 on a very challenging course and was the highest course score in all classes for the entire competition.
The annual event took place in Minneapolis, bringing together 425 drivers representing 56 companies from 49 states with a combined total of nearly 756 million accident-free miles. Drivers competed in a variety of events designed to measure their industry knowledge and dedication to safety.
Dan Shamrell is a long-time participant and advocate for the Truck Driving Championships program. He has taken home three Grand Champion awards at the Oregon Truck Driving Championships, as well as a handful of trophies in other categories, including 3-axle.
Other drivers representing Oregon at the 2025 NTDC included: Gurinder Dhaliwal (FedEx Freight), Ronald Zieser (FedEx Freight), Anthony Waite (Albertson’s), Jacob Kinter (Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc.), Zak Abercrombie (FedEx Freight), Cristopher Outen (FedEx Freight), Steven O’Neal (Walmart Transportation), and Nathan Davidson (FedEx).
Congratulations to Dan and all of the Oregon drivers who traveled to Minneapolis to participate in the 2025 NTDC to represent our state’s tradition of safe driving!
