2023 Legislative Update - Week 4
The session continues to move at a steadier and more drawn-out tempo. Some smaller bills are moving through the process, but with many priority bills and an uncertain fiscal future for the legislature, we have not yet reached the fast-paced, action-packed part of session that we will eventually see down the road. There were several hearings this week on bills that will most certainly die, including bills from Republicans that repeal parts of the Corporate Activity Tax. These hearings allow the Republicans time and space to discuss their issues, but they do not increase the likelihood of their passage. More bills will continue to be introduced until the bill drop deadline on February 21.
